Cystitis
Cystitis is a medical term for inflammation of the bladder. A range of infections and irritations cause cystitis in the lower urinary system.
Cystitis is a very common medical condition. It can affect women of any age but is more common in women who are pregnant, sexually active or women who are post-menopausal. Cystitis can also be caused by irritation or damage from sexual intercourse.
Between twenty and forty per cent of women will have cystitis during their lifetime. Some women will experience it again and again (known as recurrent cystitis).
It can be very uncomfortable, embarrassing and painful, causing symptoms such as pains when you pass urine and an urgency to urinate all the time to name a few. Lower abdomen pains are also a very serious health issue, if the infection is left untreated and spreads to your kidneys.
How do the Cystitis treatments work?
Doxycycline is a common antibiotic that is a popular treatment for cystitis. The medication can be particularly beneficial for women who have recurrent cystitis. It can effectively cure a cystitis infection and reduce the symptoms within as little as 24 hours. Doxycycline is available in tablets and a course should be completed to cure the cystitis infection. You should also drink plenty of water when suffering from an infection.

Cystitis is usually caused by a urine infection and most urine infections are caused from bacteria (germs) from your own bowel.
