How does Yasmin work?

The two active ingredients in Yasmin contraceptive pill are ethinylestradiol and drospirenone. These ingredients are copies of natural versions of female hormones, oestrogen and progesterone. The hormone levels vary through the month when women have their normal menstrual cycle. The hormones cause the ovaries to release an egg, a process known as ovulation and prepare the lining of the womb for possible pregnancy.

If a females egg hasn’t been fertilized at the end of the cycle, the hormones will drop and you will experience your monthly menstrual bleed (period). Hormones will also increase the texture of mucus on the opening of your womb making it harder for sperm to reach an egg, which may result in pregnancy. By taking yasmin contraceptive pill on a daily basis it will reduce the risk of becoming pregnant.

How do I take Yasmin?

It’s best to start taking the Yasmin contraceptive pill on the first day of your period. You can also commence during your period however it’s recommended to use another form of protection during this time to make sure you are completely covered from unwanted pregnancy.

Yasmin comes in strips of 21 tablets marked with the days of the week to help you to take the pill daily. You follow the calendar packet for 21 days followed by a break for 7 days. During the 7 day break you will have your period and then continue on a new strip after the 7 days even if you still have a menstrual bleed. It’s important to remember to resume taking the pills after you 7-day rest even if you still have a small bleed. This is to make sure you are covered by contraception. During the 7 day rest you will also be protected against pregnancy provided you followed directions and have taken the pills correctly.

Are there any side effects?

People react differently to different medications and there are possible side effects you need to be aware of but not everybody will experience side effects. They include:

  • Lack of sex drive
  • Weight loss or gain
  • Bleeding and spotting
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Change in menstrual bleeding
  • Thrush
  • Headaches
  • Sore and tender breasts
  • Mood swings

Can I buy Yasmin online?

Of course you can, first you will need to complete a free, short consultation online with the doctor to buy Yasmin oral contraceptive pill. This is confidential process that replaces the face-to-face appointment that you would normally undergo to receive a prescription medication. Then Yasmin will be sent from the pharmacy to arrive to you once the online doctor has approved you the medication.

Yasmin works great for me! I’ve been on it for about 6 months. During the second and third month of being on it I was experiencing nausea and heavy periods. I decided to stick it out though! My periods are now back to normal and I don’t experience nausea. I haven’t gained any weight on this birth control, I’ve actually lost a few pounds. It’s a very reliable birth control. A lot of people say something about losing their sex drive this could be because of the mood swings a lot of people experience. You just have to let your body get used to the new hormones being place into it. I love this birth control!

I have PCOS. I’ve been on this pill for 4 months now. The first 2 and a half months it seemed the pill isn’t working. I had acne around my chin and cheek area. But after persisting on it, it worked! My skin now is very smooth, zero acne, glowing! I also take extensive care of my skin via the right products, food and exercise, but the pill is definitely one of the main factors for my skin right now. The pill also doesn’t mess with with my mood and overall it just seems to be working great. It’s always a gamble with contraception pills, but stay for at least 3 months on them before deciding if it’s working or not.

I swapped my pill to Yasmin to clear up my acne. I noticed that after about 5 months of taking it that my skin was definitely a lot clearer so works really well with this. However I also started to notice weight gain when I went for my pill reviews. My weight had always been a steady weight and the only thing that had changed in my life was taking this new pill (Yasmin). I have now been swapped back to Rigevidon and after again about 5 months, my weight has dropped by 5kg. Yasmin works 100% for spots but it wasn’t for me due to the weight gain.

Trying Yasmin for the first time and honestly, I was freaked out by all the bad reviews in the web!! But a review from someone (a nurse), said everyone’s body is different so you can’t rely on others, and besides, people usually feel the need to write reviews when things are BAD, and don’t bother when it’s good ;) So, I’m gonna give it a justice, I’ve tried it for 2 weeks, expecting all these depression, mood swings, nausea, weight gain, loss of sexual desire, and all other things people say happening to them… to happen, but NO, nothing changed at all! All those did not happen at all ;) I know I only try it for 2 weeks, but this review is to tell you all ladies out there, just try it, if your body ‘matches’ with the pill (like mine I guess, I hope it will continue like this), it feels amazing cause you have the safety without any side effect ;)

I suffered PMT in my youth & after years of being free at the age of 42 the condition came back with even more severity. I was prescribe Yasmin by my gynea & the first month was fantastic. I am now in my second month & my symptoms are worse than ever. I have constant headaches, severe bloating, cramps, break through bleeding & chronic fatigue. I am hoping the third month will regulate my cycle & settle the symptoms.

I had been taking this for over a decade, since I was a teen. Never experienced any negative side effects at all. I needed it to regulate my period. No mood swings, no weight gain, no depression, the clearest skin ever. I stopped taking it six months ago. Experienced hair loss, tons of acne both facial and body, greasy skin and hair. It’s been six months and these are starting to subside, but periods are irregular again. I’m thinking of starting up just because it was nice to have clear skin and regular periods. I would highly recommend this brand to anyone.

So I just finished my first pack and so far am loving it. For the first few days I felt a bit nausea but that quickly disappeared. I’ve also notice clearer skin and all my friends has commented on that, proof if it does show. Just a little worried that I actually see red spots under my skin much like bruising at points but those disappear after as well even though they were visible on and off through out the pack.

This birth control has been the only one to help lighten and shorten my periods. I’ve been on a few different brands, as well as tried the IUD and this has been the best by far! While I did have some queasiness and sore breasts the first month, those side effects went away by month 2.

Honestly haven’t been taking it long just about two weeks but I have already noticed that it’s lowering my sex drive, making me dryer then usual and also I believe is starting a yeast infection.

I was only on this for a year and six months. I love this birth control, my skin looks great because of it and I haven’t had any weight gain. Unfortunately at my year mark I started having two periods a month and my doctor has switched me off. Even two periods a month was better than what was happening before I started taking this birth control. I’ll miss this birth control, I would definitely take it again.
